How To Become A Professional Footballer
So you want to learn how to become a professional footballer or soccer player?
Guess what…
So does every other young player in the world!
What makes you any different?
How are you going to achieve this?
When so many others fail?
If you follow the advice in this post, you will massively increase your chances of becoming a professional.
But as you will soon see, becoming a pro isn’t about “how good you are”.
Yes…
That is a very important piece of the puzzle: if you don’t have professional quality, you will never be a professional player.
But there are millions of players around the world with professional quality, who never become professional players.
Why is this?
It’s because…
How To Become a Professional Footballer
is about taking action.
You can NOT wait, for something to happen. You have to go out and make it happen.
Throughout this blog post, I am going to encourage you to take massive action. The more action you take, the more you will increase your chances of becoming a pro.
It’s not easy to become a professional / pro soccer player. If it was, everyone would do it.
And…
If you wish it was easy (or give up because it’s too hard and too much work) you are not cut out for this journey. This dream is not for you. You must be mentally tough, persistent, and committed.
You must be in this for the long run. You have to be willing to be rejected, fail, and continue trying until you achieve your goal because that is all part of the process.
If seriously want to learn how to become a professional soccer player:
1) watch all the videos on this page
2) take notes on each video
3) create a plan and take action
But…
First of all…
Why should you even listen to me? I’m NOT a professional soccer player.
I’m just some random guy who’s extremely passionate about football and has managed to influence 100,000s of players all around the world.
I’ve helped many players achieve the dream of becoming a pro. But, I’m not one myself… so really should you even listen to me?
Why Aren’t You A Pro Footballer?
If I had the ambition, knowledge, and self-awareness I have now at a younger age, I am absolutely confident I would be playing professional football somewhere around the world.
However, perhaps that wasn’t my purpose.
I had to fail that dream….
In order to help you succeed at yours. This is my purpose.
Another thing I want you to understand is; being a professional doesn’t mean playing for Barcelona or Manchester United.
I get 100s of messages everyday from kids saying, my goal is to play for Barcelona. Yet, they don’t understand the process in order to get there. They are focused on Step 100… when they haven’t even completed Step 1.
If you can’t break into the professional leagues in your own country, how are you going to play for the biggest club in the world?
I’m not saying this to crush your dream. I just want you to be realistic. One day you may be able to play for Barcelona, however… you are going to need to work your way to that level.
There are multiple levels of “professional football” in different countries around the world, where you can get paid to play the game you love.
This is a good thing. This actually means that your goal of becoming a “professional soccer player” is more realistic than you think.
If your dream is to play for that big club. Do not let me (or anyone else) discourage you from that dream. Focus on taking small steps to your goal. Instead of day dreaming about the final step without any real plan to get there.
Let’s get into some solid action steps.
In this video, I’ve put together a list of concrete action steps you can actually take to move closer towards your goal of becoming a professional.
Steps To Become a Professional
You must take responsibility for your success. You must create your own opportunities. Nothing will be handed to you on this journey.
If you think you will become a professional simply because you are “good enough”, you will fail to achieve your goal.
Becoming good enough (and constantly getting better) is only the first step. The most important action is constantly putting yourself in situations where you will have opportunities to prove yourself.
The worst thing you can do is WAIT: No one is coming to find you. You must go and find them. Put yourself in situations where you can be found.
Two questions I always receive are:
1) Is it too late to become a professional footballer?
2) What if I try to become a pro and it doesn’t work?
Let’s answer both of those questions in detail:
Is it TOO LATE to become a professional footballer?
You cannot go back in time and change anything. You can only make the most of the present to create your best future.
What If I try and Fail to become a pro soccer player?
In reality…
Whether you make it or not really isn’t important: who you become by trying to achieve a goals is.
Live your life without regret and you will be a better person because of it.
Finally…
I want to touch on a sensitive topic for most:
What do you do when no one supports you? When your friends, teammates, and even parents don’t think you should pursue this goal?
The most successful people in the world, were told they’re ideas were stupid and they would never work.
Your dream is not theirs. Why would you expect them to understand it? It’s your dream. Therefore, it’s your responsibility to turn it into reality.
There are always going to be obstacles in your life. How you choose to look at these obstacles will determine your success:
Do you focus on the problem?
Or work to find the solution?
You can complain about your situation but that will not help you achieve your goal.
There are players who have been in the same situation as you… and they have found a way to overcome it, in order to make their dream a reality.
Whether that difficult situation, is a lack of support, lack of money, lack of opportunity, poor location… they found a way. You can either let these obstacles defeat you or you grow and become strong enough to overcome them.
The choice is yours.
*Most parents don’t want their kids to pursue the professional soccer dream. It’s not because they don’t believe in you. It’s simply because they love you and care for you.
They want you to be safe.
But, taking the safe road never led anyone to greatness.
What should you do if you don’t have the support of your parents?
Don’t just focus on excelling on the soccer field. You must be a superstar in the classroom, get the best grades possible. Be the best son or daughter you can, help around the house, respect your parents, do what they ask. Start to take care of yourself. Make money, build your body, improve your brain.
If you prove to your parents that you can and will be a success no matter what happens, they will be more likely to support your choices in life.
In the end…
No one will believe in you, until you actually achieve it. All that matters is that you believe in yourself.
