This will give you a better chance of intercepting the ball and stopping them in their tracks.
- Close down space quickly.
As soon as you see the attacker with the ball, close down the space quickly. The more time and space they have, the more dangerous they can be. Close them down quickly to limit their options and force them into making mistakes. Be sure to approach them at an angle and force them towards the touchline, where they have less space to work with.
