This means…
Scoring goals, making assists, creating chances, winning tackles, stoping shots / goals.
In order to become the type of player who can make an IMPACT on a game soccer players have usually developed certain skills which allow them to do so.
Here are some skills / abilities which usually make a good soccer player:
What makes someone a good soccer player?
1) Technical Skill – the best players usually have a level of technical ability. They are good dribblers, passers, and ball strikers. They control the ball when it comes to them and they rarely lose possession.
More importantly they can use their technical skills to create chances. Many players have good technical ability but they don’t do anything with it.
Good soccer players can use their skills when the pressure is on.
2) Athleticism – good soccer players are not just skilled they are able to make a difference with their soccer specific fitness. They have speed, stamina, and strength.
They don’t have to be the fastest player on the pitch but they are quick and sharp. They can change direction effectively and get to the ball first.
Good players have high levels of stamina. They can last the entire match. They don’t get tired easily and they are able to play with quality even when they start to get tired in the late stages of the game.
What other qualities make a good soccer player?
1) Mental Toughness – good soccer players have the ability to keep their composure under pressure.
They are able to respond positively when bad things happen. For example, conceding a goal, making a mistake, or losing a game. Good players come back from bad situations. They don’t get discouraged by failure. They get motivated by failure.
When they make mistakes, they want the ball back immediately to prove themselves.
2) Decision Making – good players have the ability to make the right decision at the right time.
In some situations it’s best to dribble, in others it’s better to pass. Good soccer players know when to do certain things based on their experience, study, and understanding of the game.
If you want to improve your decision making watch more professional soccer and learn from the best players in the game. What do they do in situations where you often find yourself?
3) Leadership – good soccer players lead by example.
They don’t always have to be the captain and they don’t always have to be vocal but they inspire their teammates by the way they play.
Aggression, intensity, work ethic are often qualities of good soccer players. They don’t always have to touch the ball to make an impact on the game. They can influence their game based on their energy.
What is the difference between a good and a great soccer player?
The difference between good players and great players is – RESULTS
Great players can make the difference when it matters most. In big games, high pressure situations, when their teammates depend on them.
Good players or average players may play well when it’s just a normal game, in training, or playing with their friends. But they will often fail to deliver when it’s a really important moment.
If you want to become a great soccer player you need to be able to take on the pressure of big moments and thrive in these conditions. You want the ball. You want to take the shot. You want to score the goal. You want the pressure when no one else does.

About The Author
If you don’t know about me…
I used to be a soccer player who struggled with self-confidence. I felt slow, weak, and unmotivated. My coaches didn’t pay much attention to me, my friends laughed at my lack of skills. At one point, I even became so discouraged that I quit the sport altogether.
Enough was enough. I decided to take control of my own development and set out on a journey to become a better soccer player. This path led me on an incredible journey of self-improvement.
I went on to win league and goal-scoring titles, earn awards, lift trophies, and received a college scholarship. I’ve even earned international caps for my country.
I started sharing my knowledge with others and teaching them how to become the best soccer players they could be. My YouTube channel grew to over 500,000 subscribers.
In addition, I coached for several youth clubs in my local city, and even started my own soccer training company. I went on to coach the most prestigious men’s club in my city for several years.
But enough about me, let’s focus on you.
If you’re looking to improve your skills, let’s take your soccer game to the next level. I want to help you make a noticeable change in style of play and overall performance on the field.
I’m passionate about helping players achieve their goals in soccer, and I’d love to be a part of your journey. I can help you reach your goals faster and achieve more in this sport, but I won’t force you. If you’re ready to take the next step, here’s what I suggest you do:
